A Legend in Her Own Lifetime
Mrs. I. Thilagavathi, M.A., M.Ed., born on 16th December 1957, is a distinguished educationist whose life has been devoted to shaping young minds and uplifting society through education. With a strong academic background and a deep passion for teaching, she envisioned an institution that would provide quality education rooted in values and excellence.
In 1995, with just 12 students and 8 teachers, she courageously laid the foundation of the school. Starting from humble beginnings, she undertook the challenging task of building a learning institution from the ground up. Her vision, determination, and unwavering faith in education transformed this dream into a reality that continues to inspire generations.
Under her visionary leadership, the school steadily flourished and earned a respected place in society. Her creative, student-centered teaching approach created a nurturing and disciplined environment where students excelled academically and grew as compassionate individuals. She consistently emphasized core values such as empathy, respect, sincerity, and discipline, believing that true education shapes character as much as intellect.
“Best Teacher” Award — 2013
Her dedication to education was formally recognized in 2013, when the Government of Tamil Nadu honored her with the “Best Teacher” Award for her outstanding contribution to quality education. With over 35 years of expertise in English education, she captivated students with her clarity, passion, and ability to connect deeply with learners. Being deeply rooted in the local culture and values of this land, she served not only as an educator but also as a mentor and guiding force for both students and teachers.
Today, with over 100 dedicated teachers and more than 1,800 students, SGAMHSS stands as a testament to her incredible journey and lifelong commitment to education, offering learning enriched with strong human values.
With her blessings and enduring vision, SGAMHSS proudly steps into its 29th year and continues to remain a prestigious institution, committed to excellence and destined to serve future generations.
